Questions, answered
Do I need a YNAB subscription?
Yes. DollarAMP reads the plan you keep in YNAB — it has no budgeting engine of its own, so there is nothing for it to show without one. YNAB is a separate subscription, priced and sold by YNAB, and its cost is not included in DollarAMP’s.
Is DollarAMP made by YNAB?
No. We are not affiliated, associated, or in any way officially connected with YNAB or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates. DollarAMP is built by Allen Media Projects and connects to YNAB through their public API, with your permission.
What does it actually add?
Time. YNAB is very good at the month you are in; DollarAMP takes that same plan and runs it forward — a daily balance projection up to ninety days out, a debt payoff date, goals that span categories, and net worth over time. It is the layer that answers “and then what?”
Will it change my plan in YNAB?
Only when you ask it to, and only after showing you exactly what will change. Funding a goal, moving money between categories or adding a detected bill are all writes you start and confirm on screen. The app never writes to your plan in the background.
Where does my financial data live?
On your device. Your accounts, categories and transactions are fetched straight from YNAB to your iPhone or iPad and cached there. Our servers hold only your connection token, a few kilobytes of settings you have authored, and the signals needed to send you an alert. Your transaction history is never stored on our servers.
How do I cancel, or delete my data?
Subscriptions are managed in your Apple account and can be cancelled at any time, including during the two-week trial; you keep access through the period you have paid for. To disconnect, use the app — and remove DollarAMP in your YNAB account settings, which is what ends the authorization at YNAB’s end. To have everything we hold deleted, send us a request through the contact form and we will remove it.
